I LOVE school uniforms. It just make everything so much simpler. I have heard complaints about the expense, but honestly, I find it to be much cheaper and they look so cute!!! Our biggest difficulty was sorting through all the schools to find the right one. It really puts it into perspective when all the schools have different requirements and use school specific logos. Plus, we are still trying to navigate the different sizes here. I gave up and just asked for help.
We selected St. Leonard’s partly for the distance from the cottage, but with the temporary location to the flat, our trek each day has ended up being 1 mile each way. It’s not terrible when the weather is nice and the added steps make us feel healthier (read: able to eat more) so we manage. Who’s brilliant idea was it to put these little ones in white polos? Ugh.

There are other things we’ve had to adjust to as well, like PE kits. Two days a week he takes another bag with clothes to change into for PE. They change in the classroom – boys and girls together. Bodhi has never complained, but there are some parents who say their children are uncomfortable and it has resulted in their wearing the PE uniform all day. It’s been a lesson in independence for Bodhi, so we’re rolling with it. He also takes a book bag (like a portfolio) in addition to his back pack in which he has his reading log and is always supposed to have a book with him. Another plus in our opinion.
But the best part…and try not to be mad US friends…we didn’t buy school supplies. Not one pencil. No paper. No boxes of tissues or bottles of hand sanitizer. It’s all provided. And the parents STILL complain about the cost of the uniforms. Oh well…we will just enjoy the reprieve.
