Tower of London

So the Tower of London isn’t actually a tower like you would expect when you hear the word “tower.” It’s so much more. This was actually one of my favorite things we have done in London. I’m sure we didn’t see everything and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. There was so much to explore here! Of course, I love the history, and Bodhi enjoyed all the displays.

Each area had details for what had occurred and who had been there. A little history come to life.

So maybe we did entice him into the tower with stories of ghosts. Ghost stories are what Ira obsesses over. When Bodhi was younger, during the pandemic, he and Ira would go to the Delaware Dam Park. They’d sit on the bench, Ira would tell ghost stories with happy endings. This has carried on over the years. Until now. At the Tower of London. Where ghosts are a real possibility. A lot of people died behind these doors. There was a marker of where Anne Boleyn was beheaded, and historical facts about the torture endured in the dungeon. So ghosts—Bodhi and Ira went on a hunt.

Bodhi was obsessed with this room. Through that little door was a small room and stairs leading down. It was roped off, but there was a speaker with whispering which Bodhi was certain were ghosts.

“Do you hear it?”

“What?”

“Whispers.”

The Armory was full of every type of weapon and armor that you could imagine throughout the years. I love how they brag that ONLY 22 people have been executed here.

You don’t have to be a gun enthusiast to appreciate the art and handiwork of these pistols. I mainly took these photos for my father, but I have to admit the carved handles are exquisite.

Such an amazing work of art!  This dragon was either the creation of a brilliant or warped mind.

Maybe a little of both, but I thought it was incredible.

Ira was ready to be royalty whereas Bodhi was just tired of walking.

Poor kid.

Time to see the Crown Jewels! Unfortunately, no photos allowed, but I can tell you that it is worth seeing. The crowns and other jewels are kept here on display, but they are also used by the current royals. You stood on a moving conveyer belt, ensuring that people did stand for too long gawking. Bodhi went on it twice.

I would certainly go back to the Tower again. It was so interesting and we didn’t have time to see it all. Well, that and a boy who was getting restless. Not enough stuff to climb on apparently.

At some point, Ira looked at his watch and said we needed to jet to the London Eye. And the London Eye, according to the website, was about to close in 45 mins. It would take 40 minutes to get there.

Oh boy. We zoomed off.
