Trafalgar Square

The morning air was crisp and inviting so we put on our walking shoes and headed to Trafalgar Square. It has a New York City vibe to it, with the exception of allowing people to crawl on the statues. The perimeter was dotted with buskers singing to small crowds of onlookers.

Trafalgar Square is located in Central London, but was originally known as Charing Cross – the underground station still holds this name. The name was later changed to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar where the British navy claimed victory over France and Spain during the Napoleonic war that took place in 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar. The square has been used for community gatherings and political demonstrations, but most venture in to see the lions.

But the main reason for going through the square this morning was not for the lions, but for the Korean Corn Dogs that Bodhi wanted. He had his first taste of this cheesy goodness in Ohio before we left and it definitely left an impression.

However, as with all things, new locations bring slightly different takes on the original. This made for a grouchy and still hungry boy. I’m sure we will find more things for him to eat.

Time to hit the Tube for our next destination.

Yes- I sing it every time we see it. That is the why the face.
